African health startups can apply for new support program
The Swiss Re Foundation has launched the tenth iteration of its Entrepreneurs for Resilience 2027 (E4R27) initiative, inviting social enterprises to apply by October 4. This program targets ambitious organizations dedicated to providing high-quality, low-cost primary healthcare to underserved populations within low- and middle-income countries. In collaboration with partners including the Digital Connected Care Coalition, AXA EssentiALL, the Sanofi Global Health Unit Impact Fund, and the Philips Foundation, the project will distribute $1.3 million in total resources. This support encompasses direct funding, specialized advisory services, technical aid, and professional networking opportunities.
The selection process specifically prioritizes businesses utilizing hybrid "brick-and-click" models, which integrate physical medical services with digital technologies. For healthcare startups across Africa, this opportunity provides a pathway to refine operational frameworks and expand their reach. However, interested enterprises must carefully evaluate their local market availability, specific regional costs, and applicable regulatory requirements to ensure successful implementation and scalability.
