Airbus completes first flight of its new large cargo plane
Airbus successfully completed the maiden flight of its new A350F freighter at the company's headquarters in Toulouse, France. This latest aircraft, derived from the A350 passenger model, represents a significant leap in cargo capacity for the aerospace manufacturer. Unlike the existing A330 and A321-based freighter models, this new variant features a massive 4.3-metre wide door designed to accommodate large items such as turbofan engines.
The introduction of the A350F provides a substantial upgrade in logistics capabilities, as it can transport a 109-tonne payload. This is a significant increase over the 64-tonne limit of the current A330F. By offering greater range and larger loading dimensions, Airbus is positioning itself to meet the evolving demands of high-capacity global freight transport.
