Amazon delivery drivers may use smart glasses that take constant photos
Amazon is preparing to deploy smart glasses for its delivery personnel that will capture images nearly continuously during work shifts. According to reports from Bloomberg, these wearable devices could generate thousands of photographs throughout a single driver's workday. The company intends to upload this visual data to its AI Wellspring platform to refine its logistics operations. When questioned regarding whether customers could opt out of this continuous monitoring, Amazon's Viraj Chatterjee stated that the company has not yet considered such an option.
Chatterjee clarified that the primary objective of collecting this imagery is to improve delivery efficiency rather than to conduct surveillance. However, the constant recording of people and private residences raises significant privacy concerns. This shift in data collection methods may force businesses to reevaluate their protocols for managing, transmitting, or reporting various types of digital information and documentation.
