JSE launches program to help South African tech startups attract investors
The Johannesburg Stock Exchange has partnered with the Technology Innovation Agency to launch a 16-week pilot program aimed at preparing 10 South African technology SMEs for investment. Initiated on September 30, this collaborative effort focuses on businesses operating within the fintech, agriculture, and health sectors. The selected participants were chosen based on their commercial viability, operational maturity, and current product offerings. Through this initiative, these companies will receive specialized training in pitch development and investment readiness while gaining direct access to capital-market expertise and professional investor networks.
This strategic move allows the JSE to test its ability to integrate more deeply into the early stages of the startup funding lifecycle. By fostering market linkages and creating professional pitch packs, the program seeks to bridge the gap between emerging tech firms and necessary capital sources. For businesses across Africa, this development highlights the importance of monitoring regional availability, local regulatory requirements, and the specific costs associated with such institutional support services.
