MTN Uganda brings mobile money payments to the Kampala Entebbe Expressway
MTN Uganda has introduced a mobile money system for toll fee settlements on the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway. Established through a collaboration with the Ministry of Works and Transport, this digital payment option is currently operational at the Mpala, Kajjansi, and Busega toll plazas. To utilize the service, drivers must use specific lanes and provide their phone numbers to staff, who then trigger a payment notification to the user's device for PIN verification.
This technological integration aims to streamline traffic flow and modernize collection methods as vehicle density on the expressway rises. By leveraging existing mobile payment habits, the initiative seeks to enhance the overall experience for road users through faster transaction processing. For the broader commercial landscape, such shifts toward digitalized infrastructure may require businesses to adjust their internal processes for managing, issuing, or documenting various transaction-related invoices and tax records.
