Nvidia releases cheaper AI system with less memory to combat rising costs
Nvidia has launched a more budget-friendly version of its DGX Spark AI system, priced at approximately $4,999. This new GB10-based model features 64 GB of RAM and storage, which is half the capacity of the premium version. To address rising costs, the company is distributing these units through various hardware partners, including Dell, Asus, Acer, Gigabyte, HP, and MSI. This release follows a significant price hike for the 128 GB DGX Spark, which recently rose to $6,950 due to a global shortage of memory components.
The introduction of this scaled-down hardware reflects the intense economic pressure caused by skyrocketing memory prices. While the new model offers less power than the top-tier GB10 systems, it remains more expensive than the original launch price of the 128 GB variant. For enterprises, these shifting hardware costs and availability may necessitate adjustments to operational workflows, particularly regarding how organizations manage financial reporting, tax documentation, or invoicing processes related to their computing infrastructure.
