Rising Tide Africa invests one million dollars in Ororo Waste Management
Rising Tide Africa, a pan-African angel investment network led by women, has committed up to $1 million (approximately ₦1.4 billion) to Lagos-based Ororo Waste Management Limited. The funding, which began dispersing on September 16 and may continue through December 16, aims to bolster the company's working capital and collection infrastructure. This capital injection will specifically support the procurement of used cooking oil (UCO) from existing networks and assist in managing hub operational expenses.
This investment targets the significant gap in Nigeria's waste management infrastructure, where much of the vegetable and palm oil byproduct remains uncaptured. By scaling its operations, Ororo Waste seeks to transform discarded oil into a resource for international biofuel markets. For enterprises operating within Africa, this development highlights the growing importance of circular economy models. Companies should evaluate local service availability, pricing structures, and specific regional regulatory requirements when engaging with such waste management solutions.
