Small businesses in EEMEA focus on cybersecurity and new tech tools
A recent Dreamonomics report from Mastercard reveals that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EEMEA) region are increasingly focusing on technological advancement. According to the research, 78% of these businesses prioritize defending against cyber threats, with 42% currently utilizing security tools—the highest percentage among all surveyed regions. Additionally, 77% of SMEs in these areas express enthusiasm regarding the adoption of artificial intelligence and digital assets to drive their operations.
These shifting priorities suggest that digital security is transitioning from a defensive necessity to a fundamental driver of business expansion. As companies in Africa and surrounding territories embrace these emerging technologies, they may face significant operational changes. Specifically, enterprises might need to overhaul existing workflows for managing taxes, generating invoices, or transmitting financial reports to accommodate new digital standards and automated systems.
