Volkswagen unveils the new electric ID Tiguan to replace the ID 4
Volkswagen has officially unveiled the ID. Tiguan, a new electric vehicle designed to succeed the ID.4 midsize crossover. Following the global sale of nearly one million ID.4 and ID.5 units, the German manufacturer is transitioning away from the numerical naming convention to leverage its most popular brand name. The new model utilizes the updated MEB+ platform and will offer customers a choice between 58 kWh or 77 kWh battery capacities.
This strategic shift represents an attempt to merge the success of the company's traditional internal combustion engine sales with its growing electric fleet. By adopting the Tiguan moniker, Volkswagen aims to streamline its identity while utilizing flexible architectures to produce various body styles. This move signals a significant evolution in how the automaker manages its mass-market electric vehicle lineup and production priorities.
